Using this calculator

What does each price include?

The entry door price is a standard prehung steel entry door, installed, with the old door taken out. The sliding patio door price is a sliding glass patio door, supplied and installed, with the old door taken out. The interior door price is labor only: taking out the old door, frame and trim and hanging a prehung door you supply. The doorway and wall-opening prices include the framing, the header, and the drywall, siding and trim finished around the opening.

Can you move a door, cut a new doorway or close one off?

Yes, in a wall that is not load-bearing. Moving an interior door comes to about $2,085: a new doorway framed with a header, the old one framed in and drywalled on both sides, and your door rehung in the new spot. A new doorway on its own is about $1,200, and closing off a doorway is about $334.

Can you add a window or a door in an outside wall?

Yes. A new window cut into an outside wall comes to about $1,140 for a small vinyl window, framed, flashed and trimmed inside and out. A new exterior door cut into a wall, with a 36-inch steel door, lockset and deadbolt, is about $4,536. Swapping an exterior door for a window is about $3,040, and making a window opening bigger is about $713 in labor, with the new window priced in the window calculator.

Can I price several doors together?

Yes. Switch on each item and set the quantity. A new entry door and a sliding patio door come to about $3,515, and hanging three interior prehung doors you supply comes to about $1,653 in labor.

Is there a job minimum?

No. Each item is priced on its own, so hanging one interior prehung door you supply comes to about $551 in labor.

How are these prices set?

These are Kolmo's own prices: materials from our catalog and labor from our rate table, priced for 2026 Seattle-area work. Every estimate is itemized so you can see what makes up the total, and the final price is set after a walkthrough. More at /how-estimates-work.

What doesn't the calculator price yet?

French patio doors, storm or screen doors, an interior door supplied and installed, a doorway in a load-bearing interior wall, an opening wide enough to need an engineered beam, and openings in brick or foundation walls are not priced. They are quoted after a walkthrough. Permit fees are not included either; a new opening in an outside wall usually needs a building permit. Garage doors and openers have their own calculator at /calculator/garage-doors.
